Each day I wake to see if the sunrise will be visible. I remind myself on the cloudy days that even if I can't see it, the sun is still rising. (Never mind the fact that the sun is actually not moving but we are!) The point is, I have that faith. I have faith in things I cannot see. I have faith that the earth will keep rotating on its axis and it will appear as though the sun is rising over the horizon.
On the days when I can see it, I do. It makes it easy for me to get up in the morning. My morning routine is not routine since it is ruled by something I cannot control...the sunrise. And there's the part about getting to work on time. Sometimes, write first then see the sunrise and then take a shower. Sometimes, see the sunrise, shower and then write. Sometimes the sunrise interrupts the writing and the shower has to be very quick! I like it this way. I love to be a witness to the unique beginning of each day and I don't mind making the adjustments. Actually, who wants every day to be the same?
